CWD Construction Supports America’s Favorite Sport
CWD Construction puts an emphasis on building homes that families can enjoy for a lifetime together. But, says co-founder Chuck Dohm, even the best built home is no replacement for the great outdoors.
From an early age, CWD Construction’s Chuck Dohm knew that Charlotte, NC had speed running through its veins. For many years, he and his family, specifically son Casey and father Bob, could be found at the Charlotte Motor Speedway competing in what the owner of CWD Construction calls a family hobby. Chuck has been known to hit the track himself, competing against Casey, while Bob, who also works for CWD Construction, watches in support of his family.
According to CWD Construction’s Chuck Dohm, spending time at the track has offered he and the other men in his family time to connect. Spending time with family, he says, is the most rewarding part of his life. The men’s love of racing began when Casey was just a child. The busy founder of CWD Construction bought his son a go cart, and then later one for himself, as an avenue to common ground.
Casey explains that he did not get involved in the hobby until around fifth grade. That’s when the founder of CWD Construction began taking the younger Dohm to local dirt tracks for practice. Casey Dohm has gained plenty of attention for himself since those days, says CWD Construction’s founder and proud father. Chuck says that his son possesses a natural talent for racing; this evidenced by his Summer Shootout championship win in the Legend’s Series Semi-Pro division at just 19. The owner of CWD Construction says that the 2005 season really helped his son make a name for himself.
CWD Construction’s Chuck Dohm is no stranger to attention himself. In fact, this well-known homebuilder won the championship in the 2003 Masters Division track races at Concord. Although he is, of course, proudest of his son’s achievements, he does like to relay the story of how he went from racing go carts to racing Legends cars in just three years. The founder of CWD Construction says that racing, while competitive and sometimes nerve-wracking, is good clean family fun and a great sport for children to find the perfect role model.
Chuck Dohm of CWD Construction also enjoys taking some of his fast street cars to the track to explore their potential.
